What is CDA?

CDA stands for “Child Development Associate”.  This is a competency based credential that is issued by the Council for Professional Recognition.  CDA candidates attend classes in order to earn 120 clock hours of training in 8 specific subject areas.  They create a professional portfolio, pass a written exam and have a validation visit from an early childhood professional development specialists in order to earn the CDA credential.
